Leanplum and iOS 10.3 enable app teams to dynamically change their app’s icon as per user preferences
Leanplum, the leader in mobile marketing, is the first to deliver support to the new features on iOS 10.3, namely the dynamic app icons and built-in App Store reviews, for app engagement. Apple is upgrading millions of iOS devices to its recently launched update – iOS 10.3. Marketers are looking to leverage on its new features through Leanplum who will AB test variety of app icons and app review requests to optimize app engagement.
“The mobile app marketplace is more crowded and competitive than ever before. However, iOS 10.3 ushers in exciting new capabilities to help mobile marketers personalize their apps, drive greater user engagement, and deliver business growth,” said Momchil Kyurkchiev, Leanplum co-founder, and CEO.
Together Leanplum and iOS 10.3 enable app teams to continually improve customer delight and app performance.
Dynamic app icons
This feature enables app teams to personalize the app icons based on the user’s location, interests or language in order to communicate offers dynamically from the mobile home screen.
App users can be served different variations of app icon designs through A/B test method to see which performs best. After receiving the actionable insights, marketers roll out the icon.
Built-In App Store Reviews
The new update of iOS 10.3 lets users submit app reviews inside the app rather than routing through the app store. This change reduces interruption to the user flow and increases the likelihood of a review.
As per Leanplum’s findings, brands who run campaigns to prompt the most engaged users to review and improve App Store ratings by ½ to 1 additional stars. Additional stars mean better app ranking that impacts your user installs positively.
To curb overuse, Apple’s App Reviews API will restrict app publishers from asking users to review their app more than three times per year. Leanplum enables marketers to segment their most engaged users and ask for a review at the perfect time. By A/B testing a variety of approaches, marketers can get the most from limited review requests to drive up five-star App Store reviews.
Founded by former Google engineers, Leanplum is building the marketing cloud for the mobile era. It has received $46 million in funding since its inception in 2012, the recent one being worth $29 million in 2016.
