Content monetization will be a key revenue generation MarTech tool for 2017. Online businesses are increasingly diversifying their content engagement strategies to overcome the disruptive challenges in marketing and advertising, including ad blocker and mid-roll video ad streaming. MSN (styled as msn), the leading web portal for original content, has announced a strategic partnership with the content-driven Commerce monetizing platform –VigLink. The latest collaboration with VigLink will enable MSN to find and leverage powerful revenue-generating streams using least intrusive media content, including audio and video ads.
According to the recent PageFair report, ad blocker usage has jumped by 30% in 2017 compared to the previous year. It is not a surprise that online users are not willing to invest their time and data looking at content that serves irrelevant ads. It is estimated that close to 90 million online users are expected to deploy ad blockers in 2017, derailing branded content engagement across the web, mobile, social and video channels. MSN intends to leap ahead of the challenge by partnering with VigLink.
VigLink’s content monetization platform will let MSN, and its related sites, blend technologies like VIGLINK INSERT, ANYWHERE, CONVERT and TRENDS EXPLORER to create valuable marketing revenue without disrupting the user experience or compromising the quality of content.
VigLink announced its most recent offering — VigLink Trends Explorer, in November 2016, enabling editors and publishers gain powerful, real-time insights on how their content is performing all over the web. CEO of VigLink Oliver Roup had then said, “We live in a world where personalized content and influencer recommendations are shaping the publishing landscape. We’ve created a tool to enable our partners to easily identify what readers really want. We believe Trends Explorer will not only allow our publishers to utilize data to generate highly targeted content but also access previously untapped revenue.”
Many content publishers fail to fully capitalize on their asset inventories due to lack of automation in hyperlink insertion. VigLink provides intelligently generated revenue-centric hyperlinks based on the commercial product originally mentioned in the content. Publishers can transform their non-monetized content business by adding a snippet of code, allowing VigLink to automatically turn that link into revenue-generating links.
VigLink’s automatic link insertion technology is based on its ingeniously built Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithm that gives the content monetization tools to find high-quality product mentions, resulting in more clicks, sales and eventually, sales. The partnership with a content monetization platform for commerce will help MSN to target relevant readers, serving ads without disrupting the customer experience.
