Warner Bros Digital Networks Expands Senior Executive Team

Eric Besner Named Senior Vice President, Business Development; Greg Salter Named Senior Vice President, Business and Strategic Planning; Katie Soo Named Senior Vice President, Marketing

Warner Bros. Digital Networks (WBDN) expanded its management ranks, adding senior executives in business development, strategic planning, and marketing, with Eric Besner being named Senior Vice President, Business Development; Greg Salter being named Senior Vice President, Business and Strategic Planning; and Katie Soo being named Senior Vice President, Marketing.  These appointments were announced by Jay Levine, Executive Vice President, Warner Bros Digital Networks, to whom all three executives will report.

“We’re excited to be growing the Digital Networks team with the addition of Katie, Greg, and Eric,” said Levine.  “They each bring broad experience and a digital-native perspective to their respective areas of expertise and will be key in helping us ramp up our operations as we continue to grow both our digital short-form production and OTT offerings.  Combined, these executives have worked at some of the industry’s most successful and respected digital innovators—including Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, Warner Bros., and Fullscreen—and I look forward to working with each of them.”

Besner will serve as WBDN’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, working across WBDN’s portfolio of digital services and production labels to identify growth opportunities and maximize revenue through distribution. Besner comes to WBDN from Spotify, where, as Head of Global Acquisitions for Video and Non-Music Audio, he guided the digital streaming service’s content expansion and innovation efforts.  Previously, Besner launched Netflix’s original content initiative as its Vice President of Original Programming; and he worked with Lucasfilm overseeing worldwide distribution of franchise and newly filmed IP.

Salter joins Digital Networks as Senior Vice President, Business and Strategic Planning, with responsibility for key strategic and operating initiatives across the WBDN portfolio of over-the-top channels and digital short-form production companies, as well as evaluating new opportunities and helping to grow existing initiatives. In addition, Salter leads the strategic investment and M&A function for all OTT and Digital Networks projects, and in this area will report to Thomas Gewecke, Chief Digital Officer and Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Warner Bros. Entertainment. Prior to WBDN, Salter worked almost 10 years in Warner Bros Corporate Business Development & Strategy, most recently as Vice President, where he served in a leadership role executing a variety of M&A, strategic investment and growth opportunities.

As Senior Vice President of Marketing, Soo will be responsible for overseeing marketing for all companies and programming within the WBDN group to develop initiatives that promote the division and strengthen its consumer relationships.  She will play a key role in enhancing brand awareness and exploring opportunities that help to innovate the way consumers experience content through WBDN’s wide portfolio of assets. Soo joins WBDN from Fullscreen Media, where she was Vice President of Consumer Marketing, overseeing Originals and Content Marketing, Social, and PR. Before that, she was Head of Social at Hulu, where she led efforts to innovate, create and scale the digital vision across Brand, Originals, Content, and Product.  Soo was also an early hire at Dollar Shave Club where she served as Head of Social and built the startup’s marketing roadmap from the ground up.
