Chrysalis rapidly built an Emergency Response Center app using Skuid to track the spread of COVID-19 in their business and equip staff with real-time safety information

Skuid, the #1 toolkit to accelerate custom Salesforce app design, development, and adoption, announced that one of its healthcare clients, Chrysalis, rapidly set up a HIPAA-compliant COVID-19 tracking application in one day using Skuid. Chrysalis serves people with intellectual disabilities and manages the care of more than 2,800 team members and 1,000 clients across 15 geographic regions.

As COVID-19 began to spread across the globe, it became clear that Chrysalis’ resources would be taxed if it didn’t find a solution to manage the new demands the virus would put on the vulnerable community they serve.

“Our top priority with the spread of COVID-19, as it hits the cities and communities we serve, is our patients and team members,” said Rich Slack, president at Chrysalis. “Many of our patients are at a higher risk for contracting and then experiencing a severe case of COVID-19, so we needed to figure out what protocols to put in place to keep everyone safe.”

As an essential service, Chrysalis provides around the clock care to people with intellectual disabilities. Chrysalis uses Salesforce to manage clients, team members, cases and housing while using Skuid to customize patient data for its case management needs. When patients and team members started reporting symptoms of COVID-19, Chrysalis needed a solution to track the virus with only a small team of technical builders.

“We rapidly designed and deployed an Emergency Response Center tracker in Salesforce using Skuid,” said Slack, who was able to build, test and train his staff on the tool in less than two days. “Before our clients and team members were even affected by the pandemic, we were able to get the tools in place to monitor the status of those who were being tested for COVID-19, those quarantined, and those that had tested positive but had recovered.”

Key features of Chrysalis’ tracker include:

  • An intuitive interface for HR and Management teams to report clients or team members who have COVID-19 symptoms or who have come in contact with someone with COVID-19.

  • The ability to automatically pull information on individual clients as well as related information, such as housemates, staff assigned to the house, and other team members, who could have interacted with the person in a given query.

  • Quarantine timelines for estimating the likely return-to-work date for employees and to ensure they do not come back prematurely.

  • As team members call in with normal colds and flus this tool allows us to sort through all the noise and pinpoint those who are at greatest risk, specifically those who have confirmed cases of COVID-19.

  • Departments are able to use the tool to track and quickly communicate findings and next actions. This tool removes information silos and allows us to follow up in a collective way.

“When responding to a pandemic, tracking case status over time can actually make the difference between health, extreme illness, or even death,” said Ken McElrath, CEO of Skuid. “The daily work performed by the Chrysalis team already inspires awe, and the response system they built to protect their clients and staff makes them even bigger heroes. The app demonstrates a fantastic example of real-time, responsive adaptation and adoption, made possible with Skuid and Salesforce.”
