MediaPlatform Customers Maintain Critical Connections with Remote Workforces Using Interactive Features During Live Webcasts

Sentiment Voting During Live Broadcasts Helps Engage Remote Workers and Provides Critical Feedback to Executives Regarding Employee Well Being

Over the last few weeks, MediaPlatform has observed changes in customer usage that include enhanced use of interactivity elements – from sentiment voting to polls, surveys and Q&A – as companies have shifted to the new work-from-home reality.

With a growing number of companies mandating work-from-home policies, MediaPlatform customers – who were already heavy users of large-audience, enterprise live webcasting – have substantially increased both the number of live events as well as the size of the audiences for each event.

These companies also have significantly increased the use of audience interaction – particularly of the Event Success Dashboard (“ESD”) and its sentiment voting and monitoring capabilities – during those live events as a remote substitute for feedback they would normally receive in-person during employee meetings and in viewing rooms.

Using ESD sentiment tracking, employees anonymously use sentiments to express their opinion about a specific topic, the quality of the webcast experience, or any topic on which the presenter solicits feedback. These opinions are submitted using five customizable emoticons throughout a company webcast.

During the webcast, event organizers can view audience sentiment in real time and provide audience feedback to presenters. Post-event, the Event Success Dashboard allows them to replay the presentation with aggregate sentiment scores synchronized with the video to see what was being said at the time.

MediaPlatform customers also have increased their use of online surveys, polls and question-and-answer capabilities to increase the ways that remote workers can have their top questions and concerns addressed during the covid19 crisis.

“We are seeing executives endeavoring to create stronger, more personal connections with their remote workforces. They are worried, they want to be able to gauge morale and well being, and they’re showing a softer side to company communications that is more personal as they join their employees in weathering the storm,” said Mike Newman, CEO of MediaPlatform. “Seeing leaders speaking from home – unguarded, authentic, and deeply human – and having them engage employees and invite their feedback is an effective way to express care and concern,” Newman said.
