The State of Privacy Data Rights Around the World - New Research From BigID and the International Association of Privacy Professionals

BigID, the leader in data discovery and intelligence for privacy, protection and perspective, released a report on the state of Privacy Data Rights, in partnership with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community and resource.

Privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA and LGPD are centered on the notion that individuals retain rights to their data. These data rights span rights to access, delete, and correct data and represent how organizations provide data transparency to their employees and consumers.

While individual data rights represent the centerpiece of the new privacy regulations the implementation of these data rights inside the enterprise remain nascent. This new research from BigID and IAPP is the first survey of enterprise privacy professionals to provide a survey of the state of play for data rights around the globe.

Report Highlights:
  • Half of the respondents report honoring data access requests from anyone globally
  • Companies reported that access and deletion are the most common data requests
  • Half of the corporations indicated data discovery is the top future investment area

“Data rights are at the heart of modern privacy regulations,” said Dimitri Sirota, CEO and co-founder of BigID. “For companies the need to provide data accountability to their consumers and employees represents the biggest technical challenge. This report gives organizations a baseline to understand how they compare to their peers for data rights.”
