“This is a great example of how Zoom Apps like #Warmly can help improve workflow.”

As Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees in enterprise technology, the #Warmly co-founders conceived their idea after moving to Boulder, CO, last year at the start of the pandemic to attend the Techstars accelerator. Within weeks, the entire country was under lockdown restrictions, work went virtual, and the #Warmly team thoroughly believed virtual meetings were the way of the future. After struggling to connect with users via back-to-back video calls–on sales meetings, on investor pitches, throughout Y Combinator’s summer 2020 cohort–leading to less camaraderie-building and more fatigue, #Warmly decided to do something about it.

The more they investigated the problems relating to remote connection, the more pervasive they seemed. #Warmly’s recent survey of 1,000 people on remote work revealed that many people are regularly stressed and underprepared for their Zoom meetings:

  • 41% of people struggle to build connection and rapport when meeting people virtually.
  • 61% of people spend more than half their workday in virtual meetings.
  • 74% of people have found themselves researching a person while speaking to them.
  • 74% of people have found themselves looking up how to pronounce someone’s name before a call.
  • 73% of people say they are more likely to skip a second meeting with someone who didn’t come prepared for the first one.

#Warmly provides key context on everyone you meet over Zoom. Features include extended bios of meeting participants, including LinkedIn, Twitter, company website, company org chart, latest news, etc.; auto-generated backgrounds to build rapport and stand out; fun icebreakers to help you start conversations over Zoom; and phonetic pronunciations and pronouns, so you always make the best first impression.

#Warmly CEO Max Greenwald believes the past 15 months of remote work has allowed for optionality, remote and hybrid offices that will allow people to reduce overhead costs and have flexibility with their time. “We solved a problem we were experiencing ourselves, which has become universal in a post-pandemic world,” says Greenwald. “People have been struggling to connect with professionals virtually, and are exhausted by showing up underprepared to so many meetings. If 73% of people say they are more likely to skip a second meeting with someone who didn’t come prepared for the first one, it’s imperative that we help people show up smart to their meetings.”

“#Warmly helps busy folks show up prepared for every meeting,” says Ross Mayfield, Product Lead, Zoom Apps & Integrations, Zoom. “This is a great example of how Zoom Apps like #Warmly can help improve workflow.”
