Davinci Becomes DeepIP and Announces the General Availability of its First Patent AI Copilot Fully Integrated with Microsoft Word

DeepIP Patent AI Copilot Tool Helps Practitioners Draft Patent Applications and Office Action Responses within Microsoft Word More Efficiently

Patent practitioners got a substantial boost as French American startup DeepIP (formerly known as davinci) released a new artificial intelligence product also named DeepIP – the first next-generation AI-based patent assistant to leverage the most advanced AI Models and uphold the highest security standards available today. DeepIP is now listed as an app on the Microsoft Marketplace thanks to its exclusive relationship with Microsoft.

“easiest and most powerful AI solution they have experienced”

The DeepIP tool replaces predecessor solution davinci, which was launched to a selected group of corporate legal and law firms earlier this year. The tool is now officially available for all law firms and in-house counsels.

Conveniently, DeepIP is embedded directly in the Microsoft Word ribbon, where lawyers spend the majority of their time creating documents. DeepIP’s users describe the tool as the “easiest and most powerful AI solution they have experienced” and report up to 40% time savings in their patent drafting workflow.

How does it work?

For Patent Drafting – When patent lawyers draft patents in Word, they click on the DeepIP button to pop up a chatbot interface and enter in data and queries. DeepIP then cycles through various legal and inventor documents and graphic renderings to help them gain a deeper understanding of inventions, even the most technical ones. It provides relevant suggestions to assist in drafting and structuring claims, describes figures, and generates sections of their specifications. Additionally, DeepIP helps with reviews and the editing of the application to avoid costly errors and inconsistencies.

For Office Action Responses – Similarly, for office action answers, DeepIP processes both the patent application and prior art referred to by the examiner. Based on its AI algorithms, the tool evaluates the strength of the arguments mentioned in the office action and recommends response content to the attorney. This recommendation includes whether to contest the response or change the claim based on key issues.

“AI is having a profound impact on the practice of IP law including patents, which has long been one of the most complex, manual areas of legal practice. We are proud to release DeepIP, the next generation of AI Patent Copilots, which adds the dimension of being embedded in Microsoft Word. Since most patent lawyers spend their workday within Word, DeepIP is easily accessible so attorneys can generate patent descriptions and office action responses with greater speed and convenience,” commented François-Xavier (FX) Leduc, co-founder and CEO of Kili Technology, parent company of DeepIP.
