Yellowbrick, The New School, and Rolling Stone Launch New Online Program Focused on Media Writing

Certificate Course Is Geared Toward Aspiring Professional Writers in Media, Advertising, and More

Yellowbrickin collaboration with The New School, and Rolling Stone, announced the launch of Media Writing Essentials, an online course that provides a unique and practical take on writing as a profession in today’s media world. Through this course, students build the essential skills required to write concise and compelling messages applicable to myriad media types.

Learners explore the landscape of traditional publishing, social journalism, and self-publishing opportunities; as well as business-focused writing formats including advertising copy, press releases, proposals, direct mail, and blogs. Taken together, Media Writing Essentials offers a comprehensive view of the skills required for numerous writing roles. Learners who complete the program receive a non-credit Certificate of Completion from The New School.

Media Writing Essentials features experts from across the writing spectrum. Instructors from The New School faculty include Novelist John Reed and faculty lead for the program and Media Content Strategist, Jess Ansari. The program also features William Earl, Editor at VarietyNew York Times and National Book Critics Circle-honored author Mira Jacob; Nandi Pointer, Documentary Producer; and Sheila Munguia, Sr. Director of Global Communications for Peloton, among others. Rolling Stone staffers, including News Director Jason Newman and Politics Editor Patrick Reis, round out the list of esteemed contributors.
