Tamperproof Media Startup Announces Seed Round and Company Launch

Combats digital fraud and deepfakes with data validation platform

Attestiv, Inc., a digital data validation platform has officially announced its launch. The company has closed a Series Seed offering led by Castle Island Ventures, with Plug and Play Ventures and Mentors Fund capping off a total raise over $2 Million. In a world rampant with digital fraud and rapidly emerging deepfake technology, the company’s platform uses AI and blockchain technology to validate and secure the authenticity of digital media.

The Attestiv platform offers a foundation for applications and 3rd party integrations that utilize AI and blockchain ledger fingerprinting to provide enterprise solutions for the Insurance, IoT, Media and related industries.

“Attestiv’s trusted self-service workflow enables my clients to send data and media files directly from their mobile phones making it easy to sync with my agency management system. From there, I can send it right to the insurance company. It saves my employees a lot of steps in the process which frees up more time,” says Charles Zammito of Zammito Insurance, a Massachusetts P&C Insurance agency.

With backgrounds in enterprise data storage, networking and cybersecurity, co-founders Nicos Vekiarides (CEO), John Bates (CTO) and Mark Morley (COO) identified an emerging need for a solution that could discern the authenticity of media and data and also help to combat fraud and disinformation. Nicos Vekiarides and John Bates, both startup veterans, were co-founders of TwinStrata, sold to EMC in 2014 and part of the founding team at StorageApps, sold to HP.

Attestiv represents the new standard for photo and media authentication across many business sectors. Trusted photo and media workflows bring value, integrity, and efficiency to a variety of industries,” states Nicos Vekiarides.

The technology powering the Attestiv Platform utilizes patent-pending, AI-based “perceptual fingerprinting” on a blockchain (distributed ledger), enabling the following digital media to become virtually tamper-proof:

  • photos
  • videos
  • documents
  • sensor data
  • telemetry data
  • metadata

The technology is enterprise-ready, storage-agnostic and ledger-agnostic, interoperating with a variety of distributed ledgers, both public and private.
