Veritone and Exterro Integrate Solutions to Address Growing Cost and Time of Audio and Video Evidence Processing

The new strategic partnership provides an end-to-end e-discovery, privacy, and digital forensics automated workflow solution

Veritone, Inc, creator of aiWARE, a hyper-expansive Enterprise AI platform, and Exterro, the preferred provider of Legal GRC software specifically designed for in-house legal, privacy, and IT teams at Global 2000 and AmLaw 200 organizations, today announced a strategic partnership to provide automated redaction for audio and video as part of the Exterro platform workflow.

“Integrating Veritone Redact to our software solution will provide our customers with a much more comprehensive solution for dealing with multimedia data types and enable redaction as needed to meet regulatory requirements.”

With this partnership, Exterro integrates the aiWARE-powered Veritone Redact application to automate the redaction of sensitive information within audio and video files and increase transparency by expediting the release of public records requests. With this new capability, Exterro users will be able to click a button and send their audio and video files to Veritone Redact for redaction. Once these files have been redacted, the user can ingest them with full chain of custody information back into the Exterro platform to complete their e-discovery, privacy and digital forensics workflow. Veritone Redact and its suite of public safety AI solutions are currently being licensed and used by over 275 public safety and justice agencies across the United States.

“The constant increase of audio and video evidence, such as body worn camera footage, car-dash footage, CCTV surveillance footage, jailhouse calls, and more, can put undue strain on legal teams that do not have an automated redaction workflow,” said Jon Gacek, general manager of aiWARE Enterprise. “Placing Veritone Redact in their current workflow helps close the gap by removing manual processes and provides scalability needed to keep up with FOIA requests and meet case deadlines.”

With the integration of Veritone Redact into the Exterro platform, Exterro users can sunset their manual redaction processes and any third-party solutions they are using outside the platform. This enables them to keep up with increasing volumes of audio and video evidence, automates and accelerates workflows and gives them confidence that they are redacting all personally identifiable information (PII) from these files.

“Legal teams and forensic investigators employ Exterro software to defensibly get to the facts of every matter or crime more quickly and inexpensively,” said David Petty, vice president of Channels, Exterro. “Integrating Veritone Redact to our software solution will provide our customers with a much more comprehensive solution for dealing with multimedia data types and enable redaction as needed to meet regulatory requirements.”

Leveraging Veritone aiWARE, Veritone Redact provides users complete control in defining sensitive imagery and objects before automatically redacting this information across audio, video and image evidence types. With logs to support chain of custody requirements, teams can easily share these redacted files with their fellow colleagues, public defenders or other key stakeholders. Leveraging an ecosystem of best-of-breed AI engines, teams can become more precise as they search within files to redact specific information, reducing the time it takes to process this media to exponentially scale their legal practice.
