Emovid Closes Seed Round to Advance Authentic Business Communication

Company secures nearly $7 million to expand its multi-modal messaging platform and launch new generative AI features

Emovid, the platform built to enable unified and asynchronous video, text, and audio communication for businesses, announced the close of its seed funding round, bringing total funding to date to nearly $7 million. This investment marks a major milestone in the company’s mission to transform business communication by delivering authentic, face-to-face interactions asynchronously.

Emovid was developed in part as a response to widespread frustrations with standard video conferencing and inefficient and long e-mails. Research shows that unfruitful meetings cost the U.S. business world as much as $224 billion per year, and the average knowledge worker still spends 2 to 3 hours a day in their e-mail. At the same time, many businesses are contending with a growing number of deepfaked or AI-generated video and text communications from malicious sources.

The Emovid platform allows for communication via unscripted 2-5 minute videos instead of long pre-scheduled meetings or lengthy e-mails. Additionally, the platform allows for options like background blurring or facial smoothing through AI filters while maintaining transparency through a patent-pending Seal of Authenticity that shows exactly what elements of the video have been altered. This ensures hiring managers, executives, and staff can never be tricked by a deepfake or a manipulated video or e-mail.

This round of funding will enable Emovid to:

  • Expand product availability through additional, more flexible product tiers that will open up Emovid to wider audiences.

  • Invest in generative AI features to ensure that users look video-ready without losing the microexpressions that make up a vital part of nonverbal communication.

  • Secure strategic distribution and marketing partnerships to help amplify the core purpose of the business: helping companies prepare for an AI-centric world by maintaining relationships and authenticity.

The seed round was led by o-kaisha Investments, the investment arm of the Oki Family Office (Scott Oki led the first billion dollars worth of sales for Microsoft).

“At a time when businesses need to stand out and build real human connections, Emovid has proven that authenticity and productivity can coexist,” said Mr. Oki. “I have spent my entire career focused on ensuring that business can also be a force for good – and this is such a perfect example of that combination.”

“Emovid’s vision is to provide an asynchronous way for professionals to connect on a deeper and more authentic level,” said Victor Cho, Emovid’s CEO. “Over the past year, we have demonstrated that our features solve real problems for our customers, and we are now ready for a full product launch and further development of our generative AI capabilities. And if you want to experience it real-time, you can even drop me a personal message using Emovid.
