Leap is a new video app that brings curious minds together to learn and share insights from experts and people who share their passions. Created by San Francisco-based entrepreneurs Caroline Ingeborn and Vishal Kapur, Leap was motivated by the belief that people live longer and happier lives when they are able to connect around shared interests.

“People are the missing piece of the jigsaw when it comes to satiating our curiosity. At Leap, we bring those people together,” says Caroline Ingeborn, CEO of Leap.

Their solution lies in real-time, bitesize video conversations which answer and explore questions surrounding key themes including style and relationships, travel, and current affairs. Chats at Leap are co-hosted with an expert – enabling guests to learn from people in-the-know before breaking out into small groups to mingle and muse over their passions with other like minds. Recent chats include, ‘How to get your debut novel published?’ with the author Kate Maxwell and ‘Am I too old for Burning Man?’ with travel blogger Debbie Campbell.

All Leap chats are 30 minutes or shorter and cater to busy ‘third agers’ who have busy lives and a rich breadth of interests. The hope is that after every Leap conversation, guests walk away having learned something new about themselves, someone else, or the world around them.

“As humans, we are all inherently curious. Currently conversations online only go in one direction, there is no reciprocity,” says Ingeborn. “We can read all the articles we want and broadcast our feelings and insights into the void, but ultimately it’s only when we look another human in the eye and truly talk that we find the answers we’re looking for. People are the missing piece of the jigsaw when it comes to satiating our curiosity. At Leap, we bring those people together.”
