Digital Marketing Pioneer eROI Rebrands as Thesis

The Portland-Based Agency Unveils New Website, Logo, and Innovation Lab

eROI, a fast-growing innovator in digital marketing, announced it has rebranded and changed its name to Thesis. The award-winning digital marketing agency introduced the rebrand to better align with the company’s growth, purpose, values, and market direction.

A pioneer in email marketing, eROI was founded in 2002 and has since evolved to become a full-service marketing resource for its partners through brand and campaign strategy, digital design, social strategy, web development, and more, venturing well beyond its email roots. Since 2013, the team has grown from 15 to 120 employees and increased revenue 700 percent as partners have taken advantage of its expanding capabilities.

“We’ve been delivering much more than email marketing services to our partners and felt it was time to rebrand with a name that better reflects the kind of diverse data-driven solutions we’re known for,” said Ryan Buchanan, CEO of Thesis. “A thesis is a proposition maintained through a logical argument. And because logic is what drives us, we’re excited to have an identity that stands as a statement and supports our approach.”

Early on, the Portland, Oregon–based company assisted companies such as Microsoft, SEGA, and Cingular Wireless with marketing and has since established long-term relationships with industry leaders including Adobe, Taco Bell, Providence Health, Intel, Dollar Shave Club, and the world’s largest athletic footwear manufacturer.

Clients old and new looking for a visionary agency and long-term strategic partner will benefit from Thesis’s dedication and consistent delivery of creative solutions that are backed by data. Additionally, Thesis’s commitment to workplace diversity enables it to inject traditionally underrepresented perspectives into its work.

“We strongly believe it takes a group of different perspectives to solve real problems, because point of view is material and insights matter. Our workplace and work are better because of our intentionality around equity and creating an inclusive culture,” said Buchanan. “I think it’s time for brands to demand that their agencies look more like the audience they are speaking to.”

Since late 2015, the company has prioritized diversity and equity in its recruiting processes, making inclusion a key element in decisions. Buchanan co-founded Emerging Leaders, an internship and mentoring program that challenges business leaders to play an active role in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in their own companies. Equity intentionality led to increased employee diversity, with 33 percent of the agency’s employees identifying as non-white, up from 12 percent in 2015. Thesis remains committed to the ongoing efforts that characterize diversity, equity, and inclusion, and it can be seen in its growth plans and workplace programs.

In conjunction with its rebranding, the company announced “The Shed,” an innovation lab designed to support the company’s forward direction. The Shed will be a place for company teams to discover, distill, select, and pursue the most ambitious ideas in a way that is financially sustainable, strategically aligned, and properly resourced.

To help bolster its executive team and provide a seamless transition, the company recently promoted Keely McKay, former VP of Partner Services, to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Isaac Lee Morris, former Director of Technology, to Chief Innovation Officer (CIO).
