Sigma Computing Expands Snowflake Partnership

Validation in the Snowflake-ready Technology Program Accelerates Time to Deployment and Support for External OAuth Provides Seamless Single Sign-On Experience

Sigma Computing, an innovator in cloud-native analytics and business intelligence (A&BI), announced two initiatives that deepen its partnership with Snowflake, the cloud data platform, to support user experience, enhanced security, and time to insight when deploying Sigma on the Snowflake cloud data platform. Sigma has achieved “Snowflake-ready Technology” status for its native connectors and alignment with Snowflake’s best practices. The addition of external OAuth support enables Sigma administrators to manage permissions and data access in one place by leveraging permissions established in Snowflake, integrating the Sigma-Snowflake deployment with their identity provider, and leveraging Single Sign-On (SSO).

“Sigma is one of only a few partners currently providing the benefit of SSO through external OAuth to make data access more universal without compromising on security,” said Snowflake Senior Product Manager Harsha Karpe. “Sigma has gained a lot of momentum in the last year because of its strong track record of building products that help new users access data in the cloud and get the most out of their Snowflake investment. Our joint customers can now expect an even better experience when accessing data in Snowflake through Sigma.”

The Snowflake-ready validation strengthens the affiliation between the two companies, deepens the integration between their products, and makes Sigma a member of the Snowflake Partner Network (SPN), a newly announced ecosystem of Technology and Services partners. The validation ensures Sigma’s connectors adhere to best practices, ensuring rapid deployment and the most streamlined experience when using Snowflake and Sigma together. Customers can buy Sigma with confidence, knowing that the platform will work seamlessly and securely with Snowflake on day one.

“The power of Sigma lies in its ability to make data accessible to everyone while providing the flexible modern data governance that enterprise companies need,” said Sigma Computing CTO and Co-founder Rob Woollen. “Both Sigma and Snowflake offer best-in-class, cloud-first solutions and we’re committed to delivering the best customer experience possible from initial deployment to empowering employees with data access and managing that access, securely and efficiently. The Snowflake-ready validation and support for external OAuth are just two more ways we are delivering on our mission to make it easy for anyone to explore real-time data and apply their unique expertise to the analysis process as part of a community-driven approach to analytics and business intelligence.”

With external OAuth, administrators can create a centralized source of truth for permissions, making permission management in Sigma quick, secure, and easy. Administrators also have the option to leverage external OAuth alongside a global service account to meet all of a company’s security and sharing needs. External OAuth support will be available in Q3 2020.
