NetApp Appoints James Whitemore as SVP and Chief Marketing Officer

Cloud veteran promoted to CMO after successful interim leadership

NetApp the data authority for hybrid cloud, announced the appointment of James Whitemore as senior vice president and chief marketing officer (CMO) at NetApp, reporting to CEO George Kurian.

Whitemore has been a key team member of the marketing organization since 2016 and served as interim CMO since July of 2019. His focus on increasing digital engagement will advance NetApp’s global marketing strategy to reach new customers and new buyers and strengthen market recognition to accelerate growth.

“James has held the role of CMO across several organizations and understands where the market is going given his experience building cloud businesses,” said Kurian. “He brings a strong balance of sales and marketing experience which is invaluable as the lines blur between the traditional sales motions and digital marketing.
