March Networks Expands Retail – Business Intelligence Solution with Shopify POS

March Networks, a global video security and video-based business intelligence leader, is pleased to announce the integration of its Searchlight for Retail software with the omni-channel point of sale (POS) application from Shopify, a world-leading commerce platform provider. The integration enables organizations using the POS in their retail locations to improve performance and profitability with video-enabled transaction analysis and extensive loss prevention capabilities. It also gives March Networks customers the flexibility to adopt a cloud-based POS system as part of a unified sales transaction, loss prevention and business intelligence solution.

Already deployed by a large operator in all of its Canadian retail dispensaries, the proven March Networks and Shopify POS integration is secure and easy to use. It provides retail business owners with automated transaction activity and exception reports in the March Networks Searchlight software, along with direct links to the recorded video. Transaction data is hosted centrally by Shopify in the cloud and correlated with video from on-premises March Networks video recorders in the Searchlight software, making it easy to access data from any networked location and archive video cost-effectively.

March Networks’ intelligent video solution is used by more than 300 retail brands worldwide to extract critical information on losses, operations, compliance and more. By integrating surveillance video with POS transaction data, the solution can alert retailers to suspect transactions, such as voids over a set amount or frequent employee discounts, and provide clear video evidence for review. It also allows retailers to conduct remote searches by transaction date, time, card number, employee number and other criteria across multiple locations simultaneously. With the Searchlight software, retailers can proactively detect fraud and theft, and reduce incident investigation times by as much as 90%.

By adding optional analytics (such as people counting, queue length and dwell time), the Searchlight software also allows retailers to analyze and compare information on customer service, conversion rates, promotional campaigns and more, in one location or across many. It extends the use of video to multiple teams within a retail organization and increases the overall return on investment.

“Combining Searchlight’s security, investigation and business intelligence competencies with Shopify’s POS gives our retail customers the ability to select a progressive, cloud-based transaction system without worrying about how the two technologies will work together,” said Jeff Corrall, Director of March Networks’ Strategic Partnerships and Integrations. “Supporting more than 800,000 businesses, Shopify is one of the fastest-growing commerce companies and we are thrilled to add them to our best-in-class retail integrations portfolio. Their centralized solution, which processes both in-store and online transactions in exactly the same way, is a huge advantage for retailers using their sales data to help improve performance.”
