Zoom and Atlassian Join Forces in Strategic Partnership

Companies Announce Embedded Workflows and Financial Investment at Zoomtopia 2018

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with collaboration software company Atlassian. The first phase of this partnership involves the development of integrated workflows between Zoom and Atlassian’s Jira Ops and Jira Service Desk products, allowing joint users to seamlessly collaborate with the combined power of these solutions, as well as a strategic financial investment by Atlassian in Zoom. Details of the partnership will be discussed by Zoom’s head of product management, Oded Gal, and Atlassian’s CTO, Sri Viswanath, during the product keynote at the Zoomtopia 2018 user conference.

With the Zoom and Atlassian Jira Ops integrated workflow, a user of both services can start a Zoom meeting directly from a Jira Ops ticket when an incident occurs. A log of the meeting, including its recording and transcription (if applicable), are appended to the ticket. Additionally, a Zoom Chat channel can be associated with the Jira Ops ticket. All timeline updates to the ticket will be automatically posted to the Zoom Chat channel in real time, providing instant information to all relevant parties. This integrated experience will provide instant video communications in the Jira Ops system, allowing IT and software teams to work together to quickly respond to and resolve incidents.

Viswanath said, “Atlassian and Zoom have industry-leading technologies and we are both focused on creating the most frictionless collaboration experiences for our users. It is exciting to come together and tightly integrate our services to help our customers get more done, faster.”

Eric S. Yuan, founder and CEO of Zoom, added, “Our engineering team here at Zoom relies on Jira, so we know the incredible quality and user experience of the Atlassian product suite. We set out to create a solution that customers like us – those who need to innovate and iterate quickly – can rely on. Adding Zoom’s video solution to Jira will allow our mutual customers to communicate faster, resolve issues, and build the next generation of technology.”

The integrated workflow experiences in Jira Ops and Jira Service Desk will be available by the end of 2018. And looking ahead, we’re excited to join forces to bring more video communications to the entire Atlassian suite.
