“Hackers and other digital predators target social media. We’re filling the coverage gaps with insurance that follows customers with the protection they need.”

HSB Home Cyber Protection™ includes groundbreaking home cyber coverage for income lost by a social media influencer in a computer attack or the takeover of a social media account.

“Social influencers want attention, but not from cyber criminals,” said James Hajjar, assistant vice president for HSB, part of Munich Re. “Hackers and other digital predators target social media. We’re filling the coverage gaps with insurance that follows customers with the protection they need.”

The social media coverage is part of HSB’s expanded protection, which also includes a cybersecurity app with anti-malware and ad blocking support, and new service choices to monitor the “dark web” and bank accounts for cyber threats.

Hijacked Accounts and Damaged Reputations

Social media income interruption coverage is an option available with HSB Home Cyber Protection and applies to insureds who are paid for social media marketing through advertising, direct sales, marketing campaigns, or other product placements.

Social media marketing activities may be conducted with accounts they own on social media, personal websites, or email platforms.

A covered loss can be triggered when they can’t access their account, due to an unauthorized use, takeover of the account, or a malware attack.
