BuzzFeed Names Amita Tomkoria to Lead Investor Relations

Tomkoria Joins BuzzFeed From Activision Blizzard Ahead Of BuzzFeed Becoming a Public Company

BuzzFeed, the premier media company for digital content and commerce for millennial and Gen Z audiences, announced that it has named Amita Tomkoria as Senior Vice President for Investor Relations. In her role leading BuzzFeed’s global investor relations strategy, Tomkoria will be responsible for building strong relationships with the investment community while communicating BuzzFeed’s long-term vision, business model and financial performance. BuzzFeed’s deal to become a publicly traded company by merging with 890 5th Avenue Partners, Inc., ($ENFA) a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), is expected to close in Q4 of this year. Following the close, BuzzFeed, Inc., will trade under the ticker symbol $BZFD.

Tomkoria comes to BuzzFeed most recently from Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI) – a leading global developer and publisher of interactive entertainment that houses Call of Duty, Candy Crush and more – where she was responsible for executing the company’s investor relations strategy. She brings to her role at BuzzFeed deep public company experience and a track record of building and scaling best-in-class processes; prior to Activision, she held finance leadership roles at GE, Ebay and Deluxe Entertainment. Tomkoria earned her MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and her BA in Economics from Haverford College.

On June 24, 2021, BuzzFeed announced that it will merge with 890 5th Avenue Partners, Inc., ($ENFA) a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), to become a publicly traded company. As part of the transaction, BuzzFeed entered into an agreement to acquire Complex Networks, a leading global youth network. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2021, after which BuzzFeed will begin trading under the ticker symbol $BZFD. At that time, a new slate of leaders will join BuzzFeed’s Board of Directors. These will include: investor and talent manager Anjula Acharia; Adam Rothstein, Executive Chairman of 890 5th Avenue Partners; and Greg Coleman, an advisor to 890 and former BuzzFeed President. On August 30, 2021 Joan Amble, a seasoned audit expert with financial leadership experience at American Express and General Electric, also joined BuzzFeed’s Board as Audit Chair.
