Banuba’s upgraded AI recommendation system helps users to discover their ideal products based on personalized attributes, ultimately enhancing sales and reducing returns.

Banuba, a market leader in Augmented reality, upgrades a product recommendation system for its virtual try-on platform. It is designed to improve both user experience and sales, as well as drive down returns.

The recommendations system is unique to Banuba products. So far, it is available for decorative and care cosmetics, but will eventually expand to other products: jewelry, eyeglasses, headwear, watches, and more. It is accessible for small brands and multinational corporations, enabling users to access it on smartphones, tablets, desktop/laptop computers and even smart mirrors in stores.

The recommendation system is based on a well-trained AI. It starts by checking the color of the user’s hair, eyes, skin, etc. (over 100 parameters in total) and assigning them a type like “Summer” or “Winter”. Then the AI checks the inventory, selects the products that would fit this type the most, and places them at the top of the list, while clearly marking them as recommended.

The customer sees the type of season the AI attributed them to, but the recommendation system does a much more complex job, laying together the undertones, halftones and textures, so as the result – when customer receives the real product will be consistent with their expectations.

This saves users time by eliminating the need to explore every option, while also guaranteeing that the products will fit their preferences, thus reducing the likelihood of returns.
