Slack Announces Integration with Amazon Chime Voice Conferencing; Fortifies Back-end Cloud Infrastructure on AWS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is empowering the Slack DevOps team to innovate faster on the front-end, and secure their back-end infrastructure. In return, Slack Calls will now connect to Amazon Chime- Amazon’s Voice Conferencing and Online meeting platform.

Slack has partnered with global Cloud company, Amazon Web Services (AWS) to create the foundational stack of a powerful workplace collaboration platform. By virtue of this strategic partnership, the companies would work together in building and delivering Cloud solutions for agile and efficient workplace management solutions on AWS resources within Slack.

As part of the agreement, Slack will move all its Slack Calls capability to Amazon Chime. This would allow Chime users to connect to all voice and video calling using AWS’s communications service that lets users meet, chat, and place business calls.

AWS would also enable Slack with its global Cloud infrastructure to support agile deployment needs and boost Slack’s adoption. This would enhance Slack’s data portability across various countries and regions, and comply with data governance guidelines in those regions.

At the time of this announcement, Stewart Butterfield, CEO and co-founder of Slack said-

“The future of enterprise software will be driven by the combination of cloud services and workstream collaboration tools.”

Stewart added, “Strategically partnering with AWS allows both companies to scale to meet demand and deliver enterprise-grade offerings to our customers. By integrating AWS services with Slack’s channel-based messaging platform, we’re helping teams easily and seamlessly manage their cloud infrastructure projects and launch cloud-based services without ever leaving Slack.”

AWS remains Slack’s preferred Cloud provider for data storage, computing, data base, cloud security analytics and AI MLOps. Slack would continue to build on AWS for its collaboration features even as AWS has agreed to further simplify how Slack’s enterprise solutions can be adopted at a much faster rate.

Currently, AWS offers over 175 fully-featured services including in E-commerce, analytics, robotics, AI ML, DevOps, mobile, security, hybrid Cloud computing, data storage, AR VR and Mixed Reality, media and entertainment, Application Development and so on.

How Customers Benefit from AWS-Slack Partnership

Enterprise customers will benefit from Slack’s strong messaging platform that is built on AWS’s well-rounded Cloud infrastructure and security framework. During the current scenario hampered by the COVID-19 lockdowns and growing dangers of cybersecurity threats and data thefts, SaaS and Cloud-based enterprise businesses know the real value of securing their IT and computing foundation. With AWS and Slack, companies can hugely benefit from the way Slack has planned its integration with Amazon Chime by connecting native Slack Calls for real-time communication.

We look forward to working with Slack to expand the ways we can help our customers innovate in the cloud.”
