IntelePeer Appoints Gary Starling as Chief Information Security Officer

IntelePeer, a leading Communications Automation provider, announced Gary Starling has been named Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). With more than 20 years of domestic and multi-national IT and information security experience, Gary will streamline complex IT and security solutions across all of IntelePeer’s business units, steering the company to develop a high-performance security team in opposition to new and emerging threats.

Starling has been with IntelePeer for two years, recently serving as its Vice President of IT & Security. In this role, he developed and led cross-departmental teams and was responsible for policy, operations and strategy for its Information Technology and Information Security units. He also led IntelePeer’s compliance program, successfully achieving SOC 2 Type 2, PCI and HIPPA compliance alongside critical security and compliance initiatives.

Prior to IntelePeer, he worked with the University of Denver, holding several positions, including interim CIO, assistant vice chancellor of IT infrastructure and CISO, where he introduced and guided its over 4,000 employees across 14 locations toward the adoption of emergent technologies. He was also director of global IT, Networks and Security for EchoStar/Hughes Network Systems, responsible for NOC/SOC operations in Europe and the United States. Additionally, he served as Avionics Communications Systems Specialist in the US Airforce and as Telecommunications Specialist, Tech Control for NORAD. Starling earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Colorado Technical University and a master’s in information systems management from Capella University.
