Symantec Named a Leader in Enterprise Email Security by Independent Research Firm

Symantec’s Email Security Solution Recognized Based on Current Offering, Strategy, and Market Presence

Symantec Corporation, the world’s leading cyber security company, announced that it has been positioned as a Leader in “The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Email Security, Q2 2019,” a new report published by Forrester Research, Inc.

“Email represents a unique challenge for the modern enterprise. It’s both a mission-critical business application and the most common way for cyber criminals to launch and distribute threats. In our view, Forrester highlights the critical need to protect against phishing, fraudulent email, malicious website links and data loss”

The Q2 2019 Forrester Wave report evaluated 12 select vendors based on a comprehensive set of 32 evaluation criteria in the categories of current offering, strategy, and market presence. Based on these criteria, Symantec was recognized as a Leader.

Email remains an attractive target for cyber criminals – Symantec’s annual Internet Security Threat Report found that 65 percent of targeted attacks started with a spear phishing email. As email spreads across devices and into the cloud, enterprises are struggling to develop a complete, integrated email security solution using multiple point products that only address portions of the email security problem and often fail to integrate across security infrastructure.

According to the Forrester report, “Customers note Symantec’s ease-of-use and customer support as strengths. The ECS [Email Content Security] offering integrates with other parts of the Symantec portfolio such as the web security offering, browser isolation technology, and DLP solution.”

Email Security.cloud is an integral part of Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defense (ICD) Platform, which delivers comprehensive protection — threat analysis, blocking, remediation, and more —across web, endpoint, email, and cloud apps. Deep integrations between products allow users to more safely migrate to cloud email solutions, thwart business email compromise (BEC) and credential theft, prevent data loss, protect against email fraud, ransomware, and spear phishing attacks, detect and contain intrusions, and more – all while reducing the cost and complexity that comes with managing multiple point solutions.

“Email represents a unique challenge for the modern enterprise. It’s both a mission-critical business application and the most common way for cyber criminals to launch and distribute threats. In our view, Forrester highlights the critical need to protect against phishing, fraudulent email, malicious website links and data loss,” said Patrick Gardner, senior vice president, email security, Symantec. “We believe that we were recognized in large part due to our integrated technology portfolio including email isolation, email authentication, website security and DLP, combined with our threat intelligence network to help protect users’ email security across-the-board.”

Symantec email security solutions process more than 2.4 billion emails each day, and are powered by Symantec’s Global Intelligence Network, the world’s largest civilian threat network, which utilizes telemetry from over 175 million endpoints, 80 million web proxy users, and 57 million attack sensors in 157 countries.
