Sumo Logic enhances Data Pipelines, advancing its AI-first platform to lower observability and security TCO

Built natively in the Sumo Logic platform, Data Pipelines puts teams in control of their telemetry cost from the moment it’s created — full coverage across security and observability, not another tool to deploy or integrate.

Sumo Logic, the Intelligent Operations Platform, unveiled its enhanced Data Pipelines, extending its platform further into data pipeline management, giving customers control over the cost and value of their telemetry.

Sumo Logic already unifies telemetry into trusted, AI-ready data, fueling responsible AI agents that autonomously detect, investigate, and resolve issues for security and operations in one platform. With the improved Data Pipelines, teams can now make decisions about their data before it is ingested, stored, and analyzed; filtering noise, transforming data, and routing telemetry to the right destination and cost tier without adding another tool to their environment. The result is a more efficient approach to security and observability: one platform from data pipeline to detection, investigation, and response, with cost control built in.

Security and operations teams are collecting more telemetry than ever, and AI is accelerating that curve. As data volumes grow, organizations face an increasingly difficult trade-off: ingest everything and absorb the cost, or reduce ingestion and risk missing signals that could matter.

Fragmented data sources, disconnected pipeline and analytics tools, and manual data management only compound the problem. As agentic systems increasingly depend on high-quality telemetry, sending more data downstream without controlling its quality or cost is not a sustainable strategy.

According to a recent GartnerⓇ report, “Organizations typically defaulted to ingesting all of the operational data with the intention to analyze at a later date. Today’s complex environments no longer allow this to be feasible due to costs associated with ingestion and storage. Not only is there no increase in business value, but we see a decrease in value due to higher volumes of poor-quality telemetry, which inhibit the ability of generative AI (GenAI) and large language models (LLMs) that use this data.”1

Sumo Logic currently ingests and analyzes nearly seven exabytes of data per day for thousands of security and operations teams. Data Pipelines now brings the expertise Sumo Logic has built managing data upstream, giving customers the ability to make data and cost decisions before telemetry reaches the analytics platform.

Data Pipelines Features

Sumo Logic Data Pipelines bring intelligence to the full data lifecycle, helping teams decide what data matters, where it belongs, and what it should cost to manage.

A live pipeline preview lets teams filter out noise and route data to lower-cost tiers or external destinations before it adds to the bill. AI-assisted configuration handles rule writing that previously took hours and automatically flags anomalies and format shifts. It acts as an intelligent pipeline assistant that recommends what to route, transform, or drop, always with a human on the loop. This gives customers full control over their data strategy without adding another costly tool or agent, enabling them to ingest higher-value telemetry they previously couldn’t justify.

“We’ve spent fifteen years as experts helping customers maximize the value of their telemetry, turning exabytes of noise into actionable insights that are critical to improving enterprise security and overall performance of infrastructure and applications,” said Keith Kuchler, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Sumo Logic. “With AI exponentially increasing data volumes and costs, that expertise is even more crucial. The next generation of our AI-powered data pipeline solution moves data strategy decisions upstream, empowering teams to determine the purpose of their data so it can effectively be leveraged by responsible AI implementations and also enables them to effectively manage the economics of their data.”

Future Enhancements

Available later this year, Sumo Logic will give customers a visual, AI-assisted way to shape and optimize telemetry before it’s stored in Sumo Logic or customers’ cloud storage. Teams can control what data they collect from cloud and edge sources, transform it as needed, and ensure the right signals are available for security, operations, and agentic-driven analysis.

Sumo Logic will then extend the solution into a platform-neutral pipeline, giving organizations the same intelligent control over data destined for additional external tools and platforms.

This intelligence extends upstream through an OpenTelemetry-native management layer with AI-assisted configuration. By providing a single pane of glass to group, monitor, configure, and deploy OpenTelemetry collectors and pipelines, Sumo Logic removes the cost and complexity of maintaining additional agents. Teams can enrich, reduce, transform and route telemetry across their entire environment with less effort, fewer blind spots, and lower cost.
