Dialpad Named to Inc. 2021 Best in Business List in Business Products

Annual list recognizes 147 private companies making an extraordinary impact on their industries and society

Dialpad Inc., the industry leader in AI-powered communication and collaboration, has been named to the Inc. 2021 Best in Business list for Business Products. Inc.’s Best in Business Awards honor companies that have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact. The list, which can be found in the December 14 issue of Inc. magazine, recognizes small and mid-sized privately held American businesses that have had an outstanding influence on their communities, their industries, the environment, or society as a whole.

“The companies on this year’s list are changemakers with heart–and they’re pouring the best of their business into the people and communities around them.”

“We knew the future of work was hybrid and had this vision back in 2015 when we trademarked ‘Work from Anywhere™,’ the pandemic just accelerated the transition. As hybrid and remote work becomes the norm, communication with a distributed workforce must be elegant, streamlined, and beautiful,” said Craig Walker, CEO and founder of Dialpad. “We also have a core tenet of ‘Doing the Right Thing’ at Dialpad, so improving business communications and helping improve hybrid work is mission critical for us.”

The Dialpad mission to revolutionize business communications is centered around enabling businesses to unify different methods of communications in a mobile-friendly manner. With Dialpad, users can rely on one application for all business communication — staying productive from anywhere in today’s hybrid-remote work era. As the only provider of a truly unified Communications as a Service (TrueCaaS™) experience, and steady launch of new features in 2021, Dialpad continues to focus on improving the hybrid work experience for all.

“What began for us during the pandemic as an effort to showcase companies that were helping the community has grown into a recognition of social, environmental, and economic impact,” said Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “The companies on this year’s list are changemakers with heart–and they’re pouring the best of their business into the people and communities around them.”

Dialpad’s positive impact on the community in the past 12 months has ranged from its contribution to the Indian language automatic speech recognition (ASR) community to its support of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation. Multilinguality for natural language processing (NLP) is a rising challenge in the ASR community, especially for low-resource languages in emerging markets. The Dialpad India team outperformed the baselines in the Multilingual and Code-Switching ASR Challenges for Low Resource Indian Languages challenge and successfully trained multilingual ASR models in six Indian languages. The research done will prove useful in both academia and commercial industries.

Dialpad was selected by the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation to support its mission to make Juneteenth a nationally recognized holiday. The National Juneteenth Observance Foundation was able to leverage Dialpad’s calling and conferencing capabilities to help pass the Juneteenth legislation. In addition, the foundation uses Dialpad to record and transcribe oral accounts from historical figures to ensure their important stories can be passed down to future generations. With Dialpad powering the organization’s voice and video communications, the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation successfully helped pass the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act.

Rather than relying on quantitative criteria tied to sales or funding, Inc. editors reviewed company achievements over the past year and noted how they made a positive difference in the world. Inc. then selected honorees in more than 49 different industries – from finance to software to engineering to fashion, and more – and in age-based and revenue-based categories. The applicant pool was extremely competitive, with around 2,700 entries and an acceptance rate in the low single digits – a huge success for these honors in the list’s second year. Honorees for gold, silver, bronze and general excellence across industries and categories are featured online at inc.com/best-in-business.
