The former Shopify, Slack, and ServiceNow executive is the latest leader to join the company, following recent CMO and COO hires

Webflow, the leading visual development platform for building powerful websites without writing code, today announced that Allan Leinwand is joining the company as CTO. Leinwand will oversee the company’s worldwide engineering team as Webflow enters its next phase of growth and product innovation.

Leinwand comes to Webflow from Shopify, where he most recently served as CTO, leading engineering and data for the global commerce company. Prior to that, Leinwand was SVP of Engineering at Slack where he helped grow engineering through their IPO. Leinwand has also served as the CTO of the digital workflow company ServiceNow for over six years, and was CTO of Infrastructure at Zynga where he helped lead the teams responsible for the global delivery of the popular game platform. In addition to his operating roles, Leinwand has leveraged his technical expertise as a venture investor. He’s currently a board director at Compass, a trustee at Harvey Mudd College, and was previously a board director at Anaplan and Marin Software.

“The future of web development is Webflow, and I want to be a part of that future. As a CTO, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges that marketing and engineering teams face when collaborating to build business-critical websites,” Leinwand. “Webflow’s on a mission to solve this and I couldn’t be more excited to help lead the team that’s building the tools to help bring developer superpowers to everyone.”

Webflow has seen strong growth across every area of the business in the past year. Large businesses including Dell, Discord, Dropbox, PwC, and Philips are turning to Webflow for its powerful enterprise-grade solutions. Meanwhile, ecommerce activity has more than doubled on Webflow over the last year, even as the broader ecommerce sector has slowed. Amidst this rapid growth, Webflow has continued to launch new offerings and recently unveiled Webflow Marketplace, a one-stop shop for all the products and services users need to launch and maintain sites.

“Webflow’s customers rely on our technology to run their mission-critical websites and in many cases to make a living, which is why we took our search for a CTO very seriously,” said Vlad Magdalin, CEO and co-founder of Webflow. “Allan is a distinguished technical leader who can balance both innovation and scalability, which isn’t always easy. He’ll ensure our product remains reliable, fast, and secure as we expand our footprint among small teams and large enterprises alike. I’m excited to partner with Allan to push Webflow far beyond its current capabilities.”

Today’s news follows the appointment of other key executive hires at Webflow. In June 2022, the company welcomed former NFL and AppDynamics executive Linda Tong as the company’s first COO in a newly created role. A month prior in May 2022, Shane Murphy-Reuter joined as Webflow’s first CMO. Previously, Shane led marketing for ZoomInfo and helped the company achieve $1B in ARR.
