DataGrail Named a Cool Vendor by Gartner in the Cool Vendors in Privacy, 2020 Report

DataGrail, a leading privacy management firm, today announced it was named a Cool Vendor in the latest Gartner Cool Vendors in Privacy, 2020 report (Gartner subscription required). Due to increased demand in data privacy compliance, largely driven by the CCPA and GDPR, DataGrail has more than tripled its headcount in the last twelve months, and revenue is up more than 600 percent. According to Gartner, “As privacy laws evolve globally, the vendor landscape has developed with innovative solutions that help security and risk management leaders respond to key requirements. We profile three vendors who show the breadth of capabilities required to improve a privacy program’s effectiveness.”

An organization’s relationship with data has evolved dramatically over the past 20 years, as the systems containing data have become more complex and varied, holding data on-premise, in the cloud, or a hybrid of both. As Gartner notes in the report, “with more changes ahead than behind on evolving privacy regulations worldwide, organizations require both capabilities in privacy management, as well as data-centric capabilities for their privacy programs. Required capabilities are found often in different places, which leads to a need for integration.”

“When we launched DataGrail we designed it to take the complexity out of compliance while offering flexibility to organizations as they need to scale with the ever-changing global regulations. Consumers’ expectations are driving this: our research shows 83 percent of people expect control over how a business uses their information — and companies are having to adapt,” said Daniel Barber, CEO and co-founder of DataGrail. “We are honored to be recognized by Gartner as a Cool Vendor in Privacy, as we believe it validates our unique and impactful approach to helping organizations create a privacy program that is up and running in no time, and can remain continuously compliant regardless of changes to their environment.”
