Global industrial automation provider deploys authID’s biometric identity verification to protect tens of thousands of employees and contractors across Microsoft Entra ID and ServiceNow platforms

authID, a leading provider of biometric authentication solutions, announced it has been selected by a global leader in industrial automation. authID will secure the customer’s Microsoft Entra ID and ServiceNow environments to strengthen identity assurance across its service desk, as well as employee and contractor onboarding.

For this client, large numbers of contractors must be onboarded and identified while their privacy is safeguarded. In addition, intellectual property associated with manufacturing processes must be protected. Strong identity verification plays a critical role in U.S and international manufacturing because cyber attacks can cripple supply chains, damage productivity and directly impact downtime, and in extreme cases jeopardize public utilities.  The connectivity between equipment creates additional vectors for attacks as well, requiring valid human sponsorship of service accounts.

Marketing Technology News: MarTech Interview with Mark Listes, CEO @ Pendulum Intelligence

Digital intrusion, fraud and system attacks are rampant in manufacturing industries across the world. There have been many recent well-funded, state-sponsored attacks on power grid infrastructure, water processing plants and the most critical industrial control systems.

Following a proof of concept covering ServiceNow password reset, Microsoft Entra ID authentication, and biometric enrollment, the manufacturer selected authID’s Proof identity verification and Verified + PrivacyKey biometric authentication solutions.

The customer evaluated several alternatives before selecting authID. They cited authID’s fraud and deepfake detection depth, including certified presentation-attack and injection-attack detection. This included support for 16,000 document types across more than 240 countries and territories, and a privacy-protecting design that never stores a biometric template. authID’s biometric authentication delivers a false non-match rate of approximately 0.3% and a false match rate on the order of 1 in 1 billion, supporting the highest levels of assurance without sacrificing speed or user experience.

Pre-built Entra and ServiceNow integrations through authID’s marketplace application, the absence of professional-services costs during the proof of concept, and authID’s recently announced quantum-resistant architecture upgrade were also cited as differentiators.

authID’s Proof and Verified + PrivacyKey solutions verify caller identity for service desk transactions and support biometric authentication and self-service account recovery. This integrates with ServiceNow, and Entra ID as an external authentication method. Callers to the service desk are biometrically identified, for additional identity assurance as well as a superior user experience. authID also provides secure employee and contractor onboarding and pre-boarding checks, and candidate validation during hiring, as well as passwordless, device-agnostic biometric authentication that never stores a biometric template.

Marketing Technology News: How MarTech Is Enabling Autonomous Brand Engagement Across Channels?

According to IBM X-Force’s latest Threat Intelligence Index, the manufacturing vertical is the most targeted industry for the last five years, accounting for more than a quarter of all global cyber attacks.

The customer is also exploring other applications for authID’s platform, including identity-proofing invoked by high-risk signals before allowing a transaction to proceed, and support for shared-workstations, without the need for company-issued devices.

“This global manufacturing automation leader is exactly the kind of security-mature, large-scale industrial organization our platform was built to serve,” said Rhon Daguro, CEO of authID. “Deepfakes and injection attacks are increasingly used to defeat traditional identity checks at the service desk and during onboarding. By creating a biometric root of trust for every employee and contractor, we help this customer stop fraud before it starts, while preserving user privacy and eliminating the cost and risk of passwords.”
