Contentsquare Appoints Kat Borlongan as Chief Impact Officer

Former Director of French government’s startup ecosystem team joins fast-growing tech company to deepen and scale social impact

Contentsquare, the global leader in digital experience analytics, today announced the appointment of Kat Borlongan to the newly created position of Chief Impact Officer (CIO). As Chief Impact Officer, Kat will lead Contentsquare’s efforts to extend the company mission into areas that deliver greater impact, focusing beyond revenue growth. Borlongan will also work closely with leadership and the entire Contentsquare team to achieve high standards for the company’s end users (digital trust and privacy), employees (DE&I) and the planet (sustainability).

“While bringing onboard a CIO isn’t a panacea, it’s certainly a big step to a longer journey. One I’m proud to take together with Contentsquare’s team.”

“As Contentsquare prepares to celebrate its ten-year anniversary, I believe it’s time to broaden our horizons and think beyond our growth to the impact we want to have on our people, on our ecosystem, but more than that — on society at large,” said Jonathan Cherki, CEO & Founder of Contentsquare.

As the newest addition to Contentsquare’s Executive Committee, Borlongan will develop and lead an overarching strategy to pursue shared value — creating business value in ways that also create value for society. To achieve this, she will bring together diverse teams across the organization, including people operations, product innovation, marketing, and corporate social responsibility to shape the company’s approach. Kat will report to Jonathan Cherki, Contentsquare’s CEO and founder.

“Kat has an impressive track record in building movements and the experience in leveraging innovation and ideas to benefit communities large and small,” said Jonathan Cherki. “I am looking forward to learning from Kat and working alongside her to understand how to use the best of what Contentsquare has to offer to improve the lives of the people which it serves.”

“Running a startup is like building a plane while flying it. That’s certainly true for Contentsquare: it’s acquiring a new company almost every six months, hiring hundreds of new people every year and constantly expanding into new geographies. It takes real courage to admit mid-flight that driving revenue isn’t enough if we’re not also driving social and environmental impact. And it takes even more conviction to go all in to see it through operationally,” said Kat Borlongan. “While bringing onboard a CIO isn’t a panacea, it’s certainly a big step to a longer journey. One I’m proud to take together with Contentsquare’s team.”

“Kat has unique experience working with technology companies to drive positive change,” said Michel Combes, Chief Operating Officer of SoftBank Group International. “Her addition to Contentsquare will strengthen their social impact and deliver qualitative results. Even more, it sends a clear message about the priority the company places on social responsibility.”

Borlongan is a former entrepreneur and French government official who served under the Macron administration for over three years as Director of La French Tech, a government-led mission built to bolster France’s startup ecosystem. During her tenure, the program rolled out the most open tech employee visa in the world, created a national growth-stage program (French Tech Next40/120), launched a €25M meta-accelerator for underprivileged founders, and supported thousands of startups amidst the Covid crisis. In 2013, she organized a movement to mobilize tech experts worldwide to help develop rescue coordination tools in the wake of Super Typhoon Haiyan. She was also a Founding Partner of the open innovation agency Five by Five (acquired by Capgemini), that designed tech for good programs on urban energy efficiency for the World Bank, travellers with disabilities for the SNCF or innovation in privacy for the French data protection authority CNIL. She is currently an acting board member of the European Innovation Council (EIC), where she advises the European Commission’s €10 billion flagship program for developing and scaling Europe’s deeptech startup ecosystem.

Contentsquare’s remarkable growth, which includes a $500M Series E fundraise in May 2021, and acquisitions like Hotjar and Upstride, have positioned the company to make great strides in innovation and global expansion. It continues to commit to global initiatives like digital accessibility — bolstered by its 2020 acquisition of AdaptMyWeb and subsequent launch of the Contentsquare Foundation — and digital privacy, with the launch of the industry’s first cookieless experience analytics solution. In 2021, the company also appointed Orly Lynn to the role of VP Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
