ClosedCast says the recordings people already have — family memories, sermons, sports, training, interviews, community events and organizational history — carry value precisely because they document people, places and moments that actually existed.

“Generative AI can recreate an image, invent a scene or simulate a voice,” said Jay Christian, founder of ClosedCast. “But it cannot recreate the actual afternoon your children learned to ride bikes, the stories your grandfather told, twenty years of a church’s ministry, or the people and experiences that shaped an organization. Once those recordings are lost, they are irreplaceable.”
The initiative also draws attention to what ClosedCast calls the Archive Problem: important recordings accumulate across phones, old computers, cloud folders, hard drives, social platforms and forgotten accounts. The videos may still exist, but over time they can become increasingly difficult to find, organize and revisit.
Rather than approaching the growth of synthetic media solely as an authentication problem, ClosedCast is focusing on preservation: helping people keep the finite record of real life accessible.

ClosedCast turns scattered recordings into a private video archive built around controlled access, organization and repeat viewing. Archive owners can organize meaningful videos, choose who can watch them, and stream their collections through the web or Roku.
